Padded sports bras

The padded sports bra is a relatively new feature for sports bras. Champion started the trend with its Shape 2000 line which featured a scoop back and T-back design. The Shape 2000 line had a bit of padding, but, now, as the trend has evolved, there are other styles with substantially more padding than the Champion Shape bras.

The number one benefit of wearing a padded sports bra is what I call NST(no show through) or a modesty front look, otherwise known as preventing "headlights". Now, every body is different so there is no way to guarantee a padded sports bra will give every body perfect NST.

However, based on my experience, the Moving Comfort Alexis Brahas yet to fail to provide excellent NST. This padded sports bra has substantial molded cups. Moving Comfort, the manufacturer, came out with this design last year(2008). It started out in true lingerie sizes (34A, 36B, etc…). They have changed the sizing on this style to size groups (small, medium, large, x-large).

In 2010, they plan to add adjustable shoulder straps to this skinny strap padded sports bra.

When a manufacturer launches a style and continues to make changes and adjustments like this, it is usually a sign that the style is a hit and the manufacturer is listening to what else the consumer wants in the sports bra.

Some negative feedback about a padded sports bra are bulky feel, padding holds odor and padding does not retain its shape over time.

The padding in a sports bra will retain its shape better if you keep it out of the washing machine and dryer. This is true of any sports bra.
